JRI's Board of Trustees Announces CEO Transition

A message from Francine Rosenberg, JRI's Chairperson of the Board of Trustees:

Following nearly 40 years of unwavering dedication to JRI, Andy Pond has made the decision to retire from his position as Chief Executive Officer.

During Andy’s tenure, JRI has grown in size and scope but has never lost its core values or commitment to justice.  Andy has consistently modeled integrity and passion for the mission of this organization. He has cultivated a strong, diverse, and highly competent leadership team who will help to assure a seamless transition.

Following a careful, deliberative, and thorough process, COO Mia DeMarco has been unanimously endorsed by the Board of Trustees to be Andy’s successor as Chief Executive Officer.

Throughout the search, the focus remained on identifying a leader who could understand the complexity of JRI’s many programs and services and who actively contributes to advancing social justice, diversity, and equity. Mia DeMarco emerged as the unequivocal choice to lead JRI into its next chapter.

With a tenure of over 20 years, Mia's demonstrated leadership, management and visionary approach make her exceptionally well suited for the role. As a multifaceted leader, she has spearheaded various initiatives, including capital projects, mergers, program development, and strategic partnerships. Her guidance, acumen, and forward-thinking approach have propelled the agency’s operations in Connecticut to new heights.

Mia’s commitment to making a difference extends beyond her involvement with JRI. She has served on the boards of numerous esteemed organizations such as Children’s League of Connecticut and Doc Wayne Athletic League.

Driven by a passion for social advocacy, Mia fosters a culture of excellence and engagement, utilizing her extensive experience and strong leadership background to make a lasting impact. The Board of Trustees is confident that her vision and strategic approach will ensure the continued success and growth of JRI.
